Didn't we almost have it all?

Another point of view on the "having it all" debate for working moms, this one from Prof. Susan Greenfield who teaches at Fordham and whom I'd never met or even seen until yesterday when she asked a question after a lecture on postcolonial ecotourism and I was like "Who, who, who is this?" just like Dana says about Jeremy before his interview on the Sports Night pilot and I know maybe only two people reading this will know what I mean but hopefully everyone will take a minute to read this:

We Shouldn't Have it All by Susan Celia Greenfield

(BTW, someone said Sports Night might be coming back? Is it true?)

  1. Excellent article. So true, "having it all" definitely speaks to a very select group of women. "For today’s feminists, the words suggest an inexcusable indifference to women who have little or nothing. Nobody has it all without somebody else having less." I read an essay recently that concluded, you can have it all, just not all at the same time.

  3. Hi Sarah - thanks for taking the time to read the article & response. Who wrote the one about having it all, just not at the same time? (I know on my blog I recently quoted an essay about how difficult it is to "have it all" -- and I don't remember who wrote it! So I don't expect you to necessarily remember....). It really does help to keep perspective as we slog along trying to fit too much of it all in...to remember how nice it is to have so much.

  4. I feel like such a dope for not realizing I'd responded twice. I searched through all the articles open on my browser (oh so many!) and the not-having-it-all-at-the-same-time essay was not among them. Google search wasn't any help either. If I can find it, I will post the link!
